Tempation
I. Where does temptation come from?
A. Temptation to sin is not from God
1. God test us to confirm our faith (Gen. 22:1)
2. God test us to strengthen our commitment
B. Temptation to sin is from our own lust
1. Our own lust carries us into sin
2. The world in which we live
1 John 1:16; For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
3. The Devil is like a lion seeking someone to devour 1 Peter 5:8
II. What is the progression from being tempted to death?
A. First our thoughts turn into desire for our lust
B. Then our desire gives birth to sin
C. Sin only bring death
Eve - Genesis 3:6-22; David - 2 Samuel 11:2-17
III. Where is God when we are in the midst of temptation?
A. God wants to give wisdom (1:5; 3:17)
B. God does not change
C. He brought you to salvation through His Word
Closing Verse
1 Corinthians 10:13; No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
